The Amherst Chamber of Commerce is in the town of Amherst, Virginia. Amherst Virginia is a small town with a population of roughly 31,000 according to the most current census report in 2021, (United States Census Bureau). The Amherst Chamber of Commerce is set up as an organization to help local businesses grow their support, marketing, and networking in the community. The mission statement for the Amherst Chamber of Commerce is “Our mission is to advance commercial, industrial, professional, domestic, and global interests in Amherst County and its trade area; to increase members' presence; to be of service to members in any way we can help for "your business is our business." Connecting People. Building Business.” (Amherst Chamber of Commerce). I will be analyzing the chamber for potential opportunities for the organization to better meet community and member needs. New small businesses often do not know how the chamber can support their growth, I will identify areas the chamber can improve their visibility to new owners and butter build community relations between the chamber, the community, and all businesses in the area. For this review I will use the SWOT analysis method. Let’s take at look at the results below.
Based on my analysis I would recommend a virtual giveaway across social media to increase user engagement, awareness for the chamber and opportunity for new business owners. Building up the chambers social media channels will draw in new members, inform the local community about the chamber and the events they sponsor/host. Using a giveaway will increase followers across the various platforms and improve user engagement reviews. The community will benefit from the giveaway and will also gain knowledge about the services the chamber offers. Members will also benefit from the increased presence of the chamber as more individuals will navigate the website and see the local businesses that partner with the chamber.
